We meet on Tuesdays at Tondu Methodist Church, Tondu Bridgend.
We run our courses from September to May/June and usually run all weeks between these dates except for two weeks over Christmas.
You will need to stay on site with your child/ren (or within close proximity) while they attend the lessons they are enrolled in.
There is a parents area where you can chat, bring work or craft, and there is tea, coffee, a kitchen and free wifi available to use.
Younger siblings are very welcome and we can offer art, crafts, toys and books for their enjoyment! Parent volunteers are also encouraged to run activities for children and other parents during class times.
Homework is given by the tutors to ensure all topics can be covered and understood.
When you and your child feel ready, and possibly at the recommendation of the tutor, you are able to apply for exams in the summer (May/June) or November (available for some subjects and resits).
BEST has a close relationship with Bridgend College and we therefore arrange for exams to be taken there.

A message from the Trustees
The Trustees at BEST believe it is important that all of our families are offered quality teaching from dedicated and fully qualified tutors, all of whom have achieved at least a BA/BSC (Hons) or MA/MS in the subjects they teach.
Our tutors are all DBS checked and come with excellent references.
In 2017, our pass rate in English (A* to C) was 98%.
However, at BEST, we place a great deal of emphasis on learning for pleasure and we want all of our students to benefit from exciting lessons which enthuse young people of all abilities and which take into account any specific educational needs. Pupils are taught in small groups and tutors incorporate a variety of teaching methods into their lessons to ensure the learning outcomes of all students in the group are met.
Although GCSE exams are primarily designed to be taught over a two year period, our experienced tutors have expertly structured their courses so that students can sit exams after one year. However, pupils are also welcome to take the course over two years and families are free to decide which option fits best.
Bridgend Education Support Tuition (BEST) is also known as Bridgend Home Education Community (BHEC). BEST has undergone several transformations in the past few years, but is now a stable and established group. It benefits from being run by a team of highly committed and resourceful trustees, who have gathered together a group of well qualified tutors to provide students with the well-planned and organised lesson support they need.
